Why do people dislike Project Farm?

Two reasons for that. The test is not applicable to motor oils so who knows what kind of results can be obtained. And second, the actual wear scar test has huge error bars so (again) without proper data analysis there's no way to know if the scar differences are significant.
Plus he doesn't operate the machine properly so I'm going to guess you can get any scar you want. Just ask and he'll provide whatever you're expecting to see.

Personally, I cant fault him for that or any other legitimate way to earn money. I do fault him when he "assumes" a position as a legitimate SME and then pontificates as one and then either ignoring or "working around" properly established tests or custom tests vetted by the scientific method.
Hopefully he never gets sued
when the lockdown had most sports closed down including no NASCAR races there were always the frozen oil races on Project farm to watch. An frozen oil race is better than no races at all. A quick search for project Farm on project farm noxinfluencer rank reveals that he has 13 million subscribers and he makes minimum 15k per month and possibly up to 48K per month. not a bad gig for testing everyday products and tools.
Listen. This is an oil forum where lubrication enthusiasts - as well as highly qualified individuals - gather to discuss oil testing and such. The dislike of PF by some individuals - self included - has nothing to do with how much he makes, or how he makes it (personally, as long as it's legal, I'm good with it), but with the predicament that what he does is relevant to characterize motor oil performance. And that should not be a surprise on here.

Well since the Experts on this site claim that if you pick an oil with the proper API rating and grade any oil will do the job, I dont see how he could be causing anyone to make a mistake in choosing an oil. If Amazon Basics beats Royal Purple in his test and you choose Amazon because of that have you caused damage to your motor. Would running 2 identical motors 1000 hrs on different oils and then tear them down and check wear be better. NO, too many other variables. Just like trying to pick a motor oil by oil analysis.

It doesn't mean that one oil is not "better" than another, it just means that this test isn't relevant and isn't capable of distinguishing the difference. Kind of like if someone came up with a taste test for motor oils and tried to use the results of that test to proclaim which one is better.
So without any rating other than Meets Spec, how would you determine what is better Inside the engine without making assumptions.
I find Project farm interesting and informative even if not laboratory level investigation. A very good source of interesting information. Ed
For me the only way to tell is by what approvals, specifications and certifications the oil carries. "Meets spec" isn't the same for every "specification", some are much more difficult to meet than others.
