Why but the FRAM branded filters when you can buy MOTOMASTER (canadian tire) for 3 dollars less?
Both made by honeywell
Am I missing something here?

Why buy a Fram period?

The question for me would be, is the filter the exact filter, or is it an even less quality filter with less media/cheaper media and other downgrades in quality that arenot readily obvious. It's entirely possible also that it is the exact filter with different paint. I'm all for paying less if getting the same or better quality, minus the brand name. Advertising/branding is a huge part of the cost of many products on shelves.

I have seen the motomaster filter selection shrink at an alarming rate recently. The defense filters at walmart are also becoming extinct.

To get anything for $3 less than a Fram here, you'd end up with them paying _you_ to take the filter.

I didn't know anything could be cheaper quality/price than Fram. Perhaps an empty cola can with toilet paper poked up in it.

Fram TP bypass filter?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist jumping in there on some Fram-bashing...

It is hard to beat a Fram for poor quality. I've only cut 2 of them, but both were defective. That is a 100% defect rate.

Mods, just lock this thread

Seems some people are having too much fun with it and their pride

Sometime you can get the exact same thing cheaper, sometimes not. At times lower price can mean lower cost materials.

Even brand names change things, a low cost name would even be more variable.

This is not pharmacy where the chemical composition would be the same.

Know what your getting (as much as possible), why it's important/not, and the price/performance judgement can be made.

High price brand name 'may' give you more confidence but lower performance.

Let's try a different filter name other than Fram. Buying a Fram filter is like buying a used condom that was just overahuled from the boys at the house and senate. Weak at best and just a warm fuzzy feeling that you have something. A tin can with a magnet would be a site better.

Fram aside ... filters like Wal-Mart's brand of Super Tech ST are fairly well made, but not made by Wal-Mart.
