Why 5w20w? & Trop artic quality?

My 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8LV6 says to use 5w20w oil in the crankcase. Why? I've been using Trop Artic syn blend 5w30 but have always wondered if I'm harming my mpg or internal parts?

Is the Trop Artic syn blend O.K? Been using if for years in all my vehicles without a hitch but [censored] I dunno....thats why I'm asking here.

trop arctic is a good oil. It used to be similar to motorcraft brand. both use conocophillips base stocks.

There isnt that much different between 5w20 and 5w30.
In your case
5w20 was used because it protects adequately and better mpg.

5w30 should be fine also.

There can be very little difference between a "thick" 5w20 and a "thin" 5w30

trop artic is good oil.... As for the 5w20 or 5w30 i would use the 5w20... That is what i use in my engines that require 5w20

TropArtic is similar to Motorcraft (as previously stated) and Honda OEM oil. I run it in my Civic during the summer. Price and quality-wise it is hard to beat. As far as running 5w30, why not try 5w20 next and see if anything changes. You may get better performance, mpg, or quietness. In my case I have a high mile engine that gets better performance with 5w30 rather than 5w20.

the 5w20 trop artic is excellent oil. one of my favorite bargin lubes. at Orschlern here in indiana it goes on sale very often. and excellent lube especially if you can get it for 2-3$ a quart!

Trop Artic is one of the best oils you can buy for the money. At $2.99/qt most places it is much much better than your regular store brands (i.e. Advance Auto, Wal Mart)

T/A used to be quite popular on the forum as a bargain-priced oil. When many Walmarts stopped carrying it discussion here about it seems to have fallen off.

It goes on sale quite frequently at a chain of farm stores in my area, so I've been using it quite a bit.

But it is still easier to obtain than its cousin Kendall and a lot better value in my opinion.
