It seems like we've got alot of Royal Purple haters here on this site. The topic comes up almost once a week,so what I was wondering is, Do we have anyone here who is HAPPY with this oil? I just dont get it,alot of people use this oil on other websites and I know people personally who use this oil,so where are the supporters of this oil here?

I've never used their motor oils but I have used the Synchromax and Max-Gear oils in by gearbox and differential. Synchromax made a great improvement in the shifting of my BMW and I've heard nothing but good things about these products.

I run the 5w20 in my mazda. I'm happy with it but I have no UOAs yet to show anything. I'm waiting till about 25k on the car before doing that.

I have used both the 10/30 and 5w30 for over four years and am quite pleased with it. Vehicles include 03 Toyota Sequoia, 06 Toyota Avalon and an 03 Dodge 1500 Hemi. There has never been a usage issue or any problem at all. The Hemi was much quieter with 10/30 RP than it ever was with Mobil 1.

Never ran their motor oil, or gear lube. My T56 did not like the Synchromax at all, but it is one of those "finicky" gearboxes that needs a very specific lube.
I have had MOST excellent results from their Max EZ power steering fluid. Last I checked it actually outspeced the Red Line equivalent.

RP is always on the thin side and tends to shear. I think this is why most BITOGers don't care for it. This is also probably why people claim to get more horsepower using RP.

I used it in my F150 a few years ago. Never had it tested, but seemed to quiet the motor slightly and gave it good mileage (ie no decrease like GC). I liked it in general, but cost and availibility were a slight issue. That truck saw every oil brand availible besides Esso. I liked to experiment.

I think that is most applicable to the 5w30, not necessarily all other grades. The 5w20 is definitely not the thinnest out there.

I use the 10-40 in my 84 rx-7 that sees some light track use, and I put the 75w/90 gear oil in the diff. Car seems to like both. I had to top off with about a 1/3 quart while at Pueblo last year for a race.

Got a cousin using it after doing some research into the huge selection of oils available to you, me and all those other pointy-headed humans wandering around with cell phones stuck to their noggins.

The word is around here is that RP shears out of grade real easy. Being that it's a full synthetic, I can't figure out why it would.

Sorry to take it off topic, I feel it'd be good to get both sides of the spectrum. Friend ran it in an older supra, the 10w30, and it developed a lot of leaks/burnoff.

If your talking of a second gen supra, I know of a guy who uses regular dino oil and has leaks and he has some burnoff over time. BTW he uses 10w30, so I'd be careful in blaming the RP. Older cars develop problems regardless of the product used. However in saying this, I do not know what generation that supra is or how many miles ect. So excuse me if I sounded too harsh when uninformed. I do like those supras, tell me more about his if possible

Like 97 prizm, I have a rotary (RX8), and am using 5W-20 Royal Purple. Results so far are positive, and I am going to do a UOA at the next change. I switched from Motorcraft to RP to prevent additive clash, as I am using RP TCW3 as a gas additive. OCI is 3000 mi with each, and shearing is expected, due to the stationary gears on the rotors, and the usual fuel dilution. Rotary websites have many threads on RP, with mostly positive feedback.
