I came across this picture in my travels on the web. It may not be related since it is from severe racing duty, but it has helped to turn my opinion towards Schaeffers quality/proprietary additive package when the going gets tough in an engine. I know that Redline can take the heat too, but this picture says a lot to me.
off topic:
How do you people change a link from the actual url? I would like to not post a link to a non-site sponsor, but this picture intriged me and I wanted to see what others have to say about it.
I have used redline 10w30 and 10w40 on the roadcourse with my turbocharged 4 cyl. I have never used it longer than a couple thousand miles, and have never had a UOA done with it. The one thing I did notice while using the oil, the oil pressure at 270-280 degrees F* was consistantly higher than other brands of the same weight.

I don't buy that at all. Looks like the other bearings got taken out by detonation or oil contamination (fuel dilution). Note the others don't have 1.5 hours of dyno time listed, I wonder why that is?
Did you think Schaeffers would put a pic of a bad bearing using their oil? Im sure all of us can find disturbing pics using any oil. Was this the oil or other problems? I have never seen any engine put together properly and tuned properly that looks like that.
I use red Line 20W50 and 20W60 in a Harleys for the engine. I also use their Heavy Shockproof gear oil in the transmission. I've never used it in a four wheeler. I think PP, M1 and many others are more than good enough for a normally asperated liquid cooled car and certainly more economical. I do buy my Red Line for the bikes by the case and get it for about $8.20 per Qt.

Na.
I just like the feeling of the engine with redline. Its not "faster" however the "feeling" is a bit nicer.
(you should try it, and see if you feel anything)
Is this all in my head? Perhaps.
But
I like having it in my motor, it makes me happy.
I like the fact its a Group V base oil. It has a very nice shot of Calcium and Moly. Its a way of thinking : gotta have the best.
I a not saying Redline is the "best". Howevery it full fills my needs.
LOL
We like Redline because it is one of the toughest oils available. It can take a huge amount of abuse (including heat) and keep on performing. It also will not gunk up your engine.
Costless autoparts here in the PNW was selling 5w30, 10w30, and 10w40 for 7.99 a quart the last time I bought a few quarts. I heard from a buddy that it recently went up to 8.99 a quart though

See thats the thing, the real deals are starting to be harder to find,as it seems Redline oils are goin up in price,go figure
Cost is not a big deal for PS, diffy, and Tranny as they are not changed that frequently. If you can go 10,000 miles (drive enough) on engine oil it may be worth running Redline engine oil.
I found it more expensive direct from Redline than from an independent supplier. Your local speed shop may be able to order Redline for you then you don't pay shipping at least.

First let me say that I think Schaeffer's makes excellent products, but the problem I have with this picture is the following: It clearly states Schaeffer's Racing Oil which we know is highly fortified for the application. What we don't know is what Amsoil, Red Line, or Pennzoil was used. If they were the street versions of these oils, they are not fortified for this application.
