Who makes Toyota OEM filters?

As said, many/most seen here and elsewhere on the net are Denso made, many in Thailand and some in Japan.

But, recently on this board definitive pics were posted of a Made in the USA Toyota 90915-YZZG1 oil filter made by Purolator.

I, for one, never worried about those so-called ripping in puro filters, OCOD, etc.

I have track records of automobiles running well beyond 200k, using nothing but conventional oil + cheepest oil filters OTC (mostly supertech, but no developing country stuff).

And if you are around on BITOG to know me well, you know that I don't do show-n-tell of cutoff oil filters, period.

so long as they(oil filters) manage to filter anything over 15microns or more effectively, and ADBV is working during start up first thing in the morning, then everything is jolly. air-filter quality is more important for that has a more direct impact on cylinder wall wear than a so-called slightly ripped puro filter.

My 2c's worth,

I read something years ago about different manufacturer's philosophies, for filters........Toyota used rather loose oil filters, micron wise, but their air filters were specified to stop smaller particles than most. Theory being......If it doesn't get in through the air filter, it won't show up in oil anyway.

Ever since I read that, I have used Toyota OEM air filters.....and higher quality oil filters, on my Toys. Belt and suspenders......

Thing is, those really cheap oil filters won't be anything close to "filtering anything over 15 microns or more effectively".

Yes, I agree. that's why I said no cheep "developing country" stuff in my posting.

I still buy Fram OCOD, buy puro, ST, Hastings, WIX (hard to get), OE filters, Denso from Thailand, etc.

They still get the job done no matter what.

Denso's own oil filter is better than the filter they make for Toyota. I like the stop-torque feature Denso builds into all oil filters they make. You turn the filter down until it won't rotate any more and the o-ring seal is deformed to engineered specs. Never had one leak.

I'm using Toyo Roki (jpn) HAMP filters for Honda (specific), and their 1/2 round filter gasket is exactly the same: you tighten it down until the can mating surface meets the enging oil filter base, that's it.

No more need of cranking 3/4 turn past hand tight (the older style square oil filter gasket)...
