All right so I got a Carquest red yesterday at AAP. It has yellow date coding on the end of the filter= 090815ab2. Made in USA. It states it's distributed by CQ sourcing located in Raleigh NC. So who is the maker of this Carquest red?? This would appear to be an older version so I'm leaning towards this being made by Wix?? Thanks a lot guys.

It's a Fram, not Wix.
The yellow dotted font is used by Fram/Champion for filters coming from their Albion, IL factory. Same yellow dots you'll find on Service Champ, M1, RP, and many others.
What part number do you have? Someone else said they recently moved production to Albion from the former Greenville, OH factory where they used to be made (Greenville is where most Frams are made, with the date code format starting with the letter A followed by five digits, and it would be on the side of the can, in red).
Wix date codes are in white, and almost invisible on a white can unless you look carefully. The font is not dotted, either.

Did you see any of the CARQUEST blues for sale? The blues are the really good ones.
The CarQuest blues are available now at Advance, but the only choice I have is ship to home when buying online. I am going to Advance tomorrow, so I will ask if I can order in store, and pick up in store. If they are going to charge extra to get one in store, then there is just too many other filters that are easily obtainable and in stock.
The CQ Blues are listed on AAP's site, but not yet available. They will probably arrive behind AAP counters by the end of March
I hope so too. I like the Carquest blues as well. Here something funny to me is that the equivalent 6607 Carquest blue filter is $12. The larger sized version 7317 is only $8

Do these carquest filters have those tiny slits for oil holes in the center tube like the tearolators? Or do they have normal good flowing oil holes.

They have normal round oil holes
