I spent plenty of time researching 5w20 motor oils on this forum over the last few years. Anyhow, I have decided to run Havoline 5w20 in my wife's Honda. It looks good on paper and appears to give good UOA results. I see that it has a 460*F flashpoint, 8.5 TBN, and a boatload of Moly. I am wondering how many of you run this oil and in what vehicle?

I run it in my sister's 2004 Honda Civic VP, in fact it's on it's first OCI with the oil.

plan to run it in my 05 Honda Civic VP as well (have 500 miles to go before I dump my factory fill).

I am running it now in my "05 civic.
I ran the factory fill to 4000 miles and the oil stayed really clean looking the whole time, but when I put in the Havoline it darkened up relatively quickly. Just an observation not sure what that means.

Using it in our 2005 EX-L Accord.

I am probably going to do every other oil change with a blend of 1/2 and 1/2 Havoline 5W20 and Mobil 1 5W20, just to make sure the engine stays clean.

I plan on keeping this one until it completely falls apart. We have a nine and seven year old who will probably "buy" this one from us.

Running it right now in my wife's 3.5L Honda powered Vue.

I favor the Chevron for half the money, though a slightly lighter treat level of some adds (slightly lower TBN). However, they don't carry it or the Havoline in 5W20 here at the $0.49 stores. So, I use $0.99 Pennzoil 5W20 in our Mazda. Very nearly as high a flash point (within 5-10 degree of the Chev/Hav, IIRC) and just as cheap.

I'm about 1,000 miles into my first run of Hav 5w20 in my 01 Civic. So far so good, noticeably quieter engine vs. Mobil1 5w20. All other performance appears to be the same.

Running it in my wife's 2004 Civic EX since new, now 34,000 mi... just changed oil a few minutes ago.

FYI - I buy by the case and sometimes the oil is dark brown - almost black. Other lots are honey colored.

Probably addressed here somewhere if anyone is interested.

I haven't seen Havoline 5w-20 at my local Walmart, Autozone or Advance auto. Where you all buying it from?

Are the VP owner's running Havoline dino to 10k OCI like Honda recommends?

I run by time... every 10 weeks which these days is about 4,000 miles.

Although my wife drives a good number of miles, at least 12 times per month she will drive a cold car 2 miles, let sit for 8 hours and then drive 2 miles home.

I'm old school and under these conditions feel it is wise to go shorter than the recommended 5,000 Severe OCI, nevermind the 10,000 Normal OCI.

Also, I change the filter EVERY time; I think both factory OCI recommendations call for filter every OTHER oil change.

Buying the Havoline from Advance Auto.
