17,000 posts and tracking cars that drive past. What do you do in your free time?
Well, he plays WoT with me sometimes, in the clan I made called "PUCKR" in homage to my wife's Boxer's rear end, since he has a severely docked tail and you can see his fart cannon puckering constantly, and he's very gassy.

TMI?

I don't get it? People driving by you house? Unless you need to make a quick escape because you are wanted by the FBI, CIA or Mafia why would you care?

you are in the computer sub-forum. Its a feature of my computer network that shows all networks that came in range of the Access Points.

Which in this case happens to be all the cars driving in front of my house.. and maybe an occasional person walking on the sidewalk with their phone's wifi hotspot turned on.

there are an additional 4505 entries of hotspots going past.

WiFi hot spot in my car?

Why?
So you don't use your mobile phone's data or for device's that don't have data access. Money-wise one has to look at what their mobile provider charges for personal hotspot vs what the vehicle's plan charges.

The rental we had to go to FL included a data hotspot that we used.

It's interesting psychology on this thread......and I'm out with this comment.

So… what’s the hardware and sw that gets you these data?

Not that I need it. It’s just interesting to me. I don’t quite get why one network would be looking for other SSIDs…. Maybe to change channels to less congested ones?

Your standard home router has this ability but it's likely not available with the stock software. I know dd-wrt has it which can replace the stock software on a wide variety of routers. The tool or functionality can go by different names but one might be "network analyzer". It scans the airwaves in the area that it can reach and in the case of @Rand, it's turned on 24/7 and continually logging.

Unlimited data on our phones, so probably not something we need...........plus the security concerns

No more security concern than your home's WiFi, if it had broad enough coverage.
Indeed. A concern. No need to roll around with it. Say you had three cars and home.........now you have 4 security concerns is all I'm saying. PLUS I'm largely ignorant, but automotive rolling router.........how to upgrade for next gen wi-fi router? (Home is pretty easy)
