Who drives past my house the most (cars with wifi hotspots)

Indeed. A concern. No need to roll around with it.
You realize these automobile hotspots have the same security as household routers and you create a password ?

but automotive rolling router.........how to upgrade for next gen wi-fi router?
Pull the vehicle close to the house or in the garage. Have the vehicle connect to your home's WiFi, "check for updates", install. Exact same process you do with your phones, computers, etc (though they tend to do it automatically and in the background nowadays).

A coworker lost power at home so was using the car's hotspot to work remotely the other day. This can be quite handy since a car has its own power plant to generate electricity.

Of course but it seems like you are missing my point. Each additional router adds another potential security lapse. Yes passwords stop the amateurs but it's simple logic/math/science/human nature - the more points of "failure" the less security.

I am talking hardware upgrade. Eventually routers become obsolete. This is a fact. In a car, how easy to change hardware?

Well, he plays WoT with me sometimes, in the clan I made called "PUCKR" in homage to my wife's Boxer's rear end, since he has a severely docked tail and you can see his fart cannon puckering constantly, and he's very gassy.

TMI?
WoT is awesome! I've gotten back into it lately.

all the uconnect units in Jeep cherokees 2014-2018 in the usa are not upgradeable they were 3g and are end of life.
IIRC Canada? got a free LTE upgrade.

the vehicle hotspot Is niche use IMO. theoretically better antenna and coverage than phone too.
Made much more sense before unlimited phone plans.
