Been with State Farm for auto since 1988.
Had them for homeowners since 1996.
I was 17 when I got my own auto
Policy and built my first house at 25. I have checked them against other companies through the years when I’d get ticked at them but no other company, none, none of the magic low rate companies could ever come close.
My agent tells me that we “have a bunch of really nice cars” and we have about the lowest rates (for the coverages) in his book comparatively. Our newest vehicle is a 2015 Lexus RX350.
From reading the forum post every now and then about car insurance and what people pay, it does seem we pay 30-50% less than most.
I get a ton of discounts. Lots of accident free, defensive driver course, multi-line, you name it. I also have guaranteed renewal with SF, no longer offered but I have a lifetime grandfathered renewal.
Anyway, I don’t buy into the “check rates every year” unless you don’t have much of anything and have no discounts for loyalty. If you are jumping around, you’re paying through the nose. You’re premium might be cheap, but you better be careful and not cause a wreck where you have $45k in other peoples property damage.
Also, these no-fault states matter as well as different states. Our premiums would be even less if we lived in Alabama….. I’ve had them check.
