I have a new black bumper cover on my truck now, because I was in a wreck a month ago. Today I saw there was a small spot of silver overspray on the bumper cover and wanted to clean it off. I put a little laquer thinner on a rag and tried it on a hidden area of the cover, behind the grille. It didn't look bad there so I figured it would be OK.
I used a little bit of laquer thinner on the oversprayed spot and it took the silver paint off the cover but it turned the area a lighter shade of black. Not necessarily white, but lighter than black, almost gray.
The new gray spot is visible with the hood closed. I tried soap and water, Armor All and Mother's Back To Black to try to bring the black color back, nothing worked. Anyone have a cure for gray trim that is supposed to be black?
