Which Shell Rotella T brand should I use ???

That Rotella T6 is some oil! For a 05W-40 Full Synthetic, the results that I've read on the MB are outstanding.

3.5 is the minimum, most are more (3.6 to 3.7).

Mobil 1 0w40 is 3.7
Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w30 is 3.6
Mobil 1 Formula M 5w40 is 3.8
GC is 3.6 or 3.7.
Amsoil AFL is 3.7

Trying to find HTHS on the a Euro PDS is difficult.

I feel the important number is what you end up with and not necessarly what the oil starts with.

No read the specs. If it is SL or SM then it is fine for a modern gas engine. And yes T, T5 and T6 are rated SM.

I just picked up a few gallons of Shell Rotella Triple Protection conventional 10w30 in the White Bottle. It is API-SM rated and also CJ-4 so it's fine for my application. I'll be using it in some OCI for a few SUVs this weekend. If I should need to add some addional oil, I plan on using Formula Shell conventional motor oil in the 10w30 for top offs.

I'm trying to convince my dad to let me use T5, 10w30, or T6 5w-40; in his 2001 Chevy 4.3L.
