If that's the case then the Toyota 0W-20 is a bargain since it's 3 bucks per litre cheaper than PC's own oil!
I emailed Toyota Canada and requested a PDS on the oil but I haven't received a reply.

+1

If PC isnt the supplier of this not readily available grade who else could it be?

Good point.

The 0W-20 Toyota brand that's carried by US dealers is packaged in a different bottle that's clearly labeled as synthetic and is more expensive.
What carried by Cdn Toyota dealers comes in a very plain litre bottle so I'm pretty sure as well that's it's packaged here.

If I can't get any info from Toyota Canada on the product I'm curious enough to buy a litre and have a VOA done if some other equally curious members want to chip in for the cost of the testing? (Not you 21Rouge, you've already contributed more than your fair share in testing PC oils!)

Well I got an answer back from Toyota Canada and it's the same spec's as were given to member byez. Here's what she said:

Please be advised that Toyota Brand 0W-20 is a synthetic oil with the following specifications:

Kinematic Viscosity at 40C: 39.3
Kinematic Viscosity at 100C: 8.8
Flash point Over 200C
Viscosity Index 214

We hope this is helpful and thank you for taking the time to write.

Sincerely,

That's an amazingly high VI, much higher than PC's 169 for the same grade. In fact it's the highest VI for any 20wt oil I've ever seen!
To be honest I don't know what to make of it.

So that were the only specs that she chose to relay to you?
Have you had time to look at some other 0W20 PDS/VOAs to see if any of them might correspond to this one?

By chance did you ask Toyota Canada the company 'behind' Toyota's 0W20?

Yes I sent a reply asking who formulated the oil for them and whether it was Petro-Canada.
No I haven't done a BITOG search for a VOA/UOA.
byez, I think he's in Vancover, said he's going to do a UOA of this oil.
