Hello.

I have to put a new oil pan on a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe with a 2.4L engine. Apparently there is a crack by the drain plug.

I ordered the oil pan and you must make your own gasket.

I would like to know what will make a leak free gasket the quickest. I've heard Permatex Right Stuff 90 minute black gasket maker. I just don't want to have to wait 24 hours to fill the vehicle with oil.

Thanks.

You're going to need this. It makes life much, MUCH easier.

Put down a 4mm wide bead. Assemble immediately barely finger tight. WAIT ONE HOUR before tightening all the way.

It even says that in the Permatex instructions.
not with the right stuff. the 5 minute stuff says to bolt together and immediately return to service. i have never done the finger tight and wait an hour with right stuff. my LS oil pan and transfer case are leak free, as are the 20 or so LS oil pans i’ve done at work and the many LS swaps i’ve done.

Forget about the 5 minute stuff. You need more time to get the oil pan in position. Get the 90 minute stuff.

depends on how fast you work. i apply in my lap, slide under and bolt them up. milwaukee M12 ratchet (not fuel) is perfect 22ft/lbs at stall with fresh battery. i dont torque much unless its something internal to a engine or or it spins.

If the OE Hyundai RTV is still 1217H, it generally cures pretty quickly. Couple hours is usually all it takes.

Not a huge fan of any Permatex RTV’s.

Right Stuff is very overpriced for RTV in my experience. Any good brand RTV, regardless of colour, will work great. Just follow the directions.

right stuff is the only RTV i use and its never failed me. they have the 5 minute stuff that is ready to return to service immediately
Another vote for it. It's all I use and when coupled with proper surface prep (clean, no oil) it has NEVER failed me.

Clean surfaces, apply and tighten immediately and you're good to go.

For the valve cover gasket and an inner CV boot (which would leak a small amount of CV grease when driving at 140km/h), I used Versachem megablack RTV.
In both applicatons the megablack RTV worked great!
