I am between redline and amsoil.

Is there any other one that I should be aware of?

Oil going to be selected is 10w30.
Ambient temp never outside 60f-105f
Extreme Usage
Engine Specs:

BEARING CLEARANCE .0021
ROD SIDE CLEARANCE .015
THRUST SIDE CLEARANCE .010
OIL CLEARANCE CRANK .002
PISTON TO WALL CLEARANCE .0026
TOP RING END GAP .022
2ND RING END GAP .024
OIL CONTROL RING END GAP MIN .015

What do you mean by extreme usage? Racing, extended OCI, sludger engine?

I am more of an Amsoi guy than Redline, only because I have experience with Amsoil. I just order over $200 worth of Amsoil stuff mainly for transmission and diff. I did buy some 4 stroke oil. For the Jeep's gasoline engine, I get PU and I think you would be hard pressed to say Amsoil is a better oil than PU. I do 7500 to 8000 OCI.

To my knowledge,Amsoil is a grp 4 while Redline is a group 5. Royal Purple is a group 4 as well. All oils will probably have a dash of group 2 in them (from what I`ve learned here).

Not true.

Group 4? None. No such animal exists.

Probably Redline has more Group V than Amsoil, but still have a substantial amount of Group IV (20-40% or so, depending on which oil).

No company is handing out their formulation. The pursuit is worthy, the thread subject title sucks. Tell us more about the engine and the use in the vehicle. The clearances help for viscosity selection, but oil pressure will be a necessary number as well.

It is for a Built 3v engine(2005 ford mustang gt) Turbo forced induction. Extreme usage means not Road Racing but doing 10 passes back to back and so on.

Not probably, it does.

You have a lot of choices to choose from. I would look at racing oils.

How much power do you expect to be making. Guy I know with a TT Termi just ran plain-jane M1 5w30 in it, making 850RWHP.

In the absence of any official recommendation from the builder, I like Pablo's suggestion. Hopefully you will have a good set of gauges to monitor the coolant & oil temperature/pressure.

So if no company are handing out formulations, how did you come up with the 20-40% number?

We`re all wrong. Redline and Amsoil are all hydrocracked grp III oils, right? :P

No, just "2/3" of their oil line-up.

I think the Dominator is a majority Grp V too tho, similar to Red Line, Motul 300v, Royal Purple XPR. Any of those would be a good choice for making passes in a Forced Induction setup as the heavy (assuming heavy) dose of Grp V will give you a noticeable quicker spooling turbo while having better HTHS protection, in my mind. I would be thinking Red Line 0w30 wouldn't be a bad choice if you're willing to consider a bit thinner HTHS (3.2) which may or may not be more appropriate for a drag racing deal where it cools down between passes vs the heavy 40 weight HTHS of their 5w30; & none of the above oils should do much shearing at all, if any, as a heavy Grp V doesn't have much VII to shear in the 1st place.

Ya good point. Lots of people go rich on FI to prevent detonation. In that case I'd want a thicker HTHS as you could get fuel in the oil given some pig rich tune. Best to ask your tuner/builder. Though if you change it out after your day at the strip it probably wouldn't be too worrisome. Do you know your fuel trims? Also really need oil pressure & temps on a given oil under your circumstances to dial it all in. The others could give you some much more useable advice then I'm sure.
