has Quaker State Synthetic in now but due for a change has seemed to have more cold start knock this winter with the QS
got some Mobil 5000 on sale at Walmart
have 5w30 and 10-30
which would you put in for the summer?
Thanks

10w-30 would be ideal for the summer. 5w30 is just an "all climate" grade of oil. I'm going to purchase somemore Mobil 5000 once I go back to Walmart because I notice that they sell out of that a lot. What was your sale price? It's $8.97 for a 5qt jug here. They only have 10w30 in MC 5000 here too.

You can certainly use the 10-30 in summer, but I'd use the 5-30 all year . Why would you ever want less cold oil flow?

Your engine may like a particular oil brand, but it normally is not that critical. Your engine may be developing a mechanical problem that no oil will cover up. It's probably a harmless noise, but keep your ears open for a change.

How much less COLD oil flow it there is the warmer months With a 10w30 oil?

i would say 10w30 is good for summer if you wanted to run it or that is all they have. or flip a coin.

maxlife gets good reviews on here as well

filter is what did it for me... in my 98 4.3.

Fram and wal mart brands caused a start knock.

Delco and delco ultraguard gold were fine. Havent tried purolators on the truck.

I haven't had any issues with my SuperTech oil filter.
