Hi,

Here's what my 2003 owner's manual says:

Im currently working right now, I cant see your owner's manual.
Well I called VW services about it andthey they told me that its ok to put a regular synthetic oil since it doesnt require a sythetic oil in the first place. Thats what he said? What do you think?

My cousin has one of those and runs regular Mobil 1 5w30. He has somewhere around 190K on it at this time. Can you get your hands on some Mobil 1 0W-40? That would be a great oil for the Jetta.

Unfortunately NO, here in my location. But the VW dealer sells the castrol Sythetic 5W-40 but its so expensive coz they sell it by quart. Im currently using a PP 5w30. I hope I dont get any problems. What do you think?

Ah yes, Air Force firewalls, they do block photobucket.

All VWs since 2000 require synthetic oil, per VW. Others here are free to say otherwise.

The manual basically says: 5w40 or 5w30 that meets: VW 502.00 or ACEA A2 or ACEA A3, or API SJ. 0w40 is another popular grade.

Pretty much any 5w40, 5w30 or 0w40 you find will meet these specs.

Easy to find oils include: Castrol Syntec 5w40, Shell Rotella T 5w40, Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40, Mobil 1 0w40, Mobil 1 5w30, Castrol Syntec 5w30, plus some from Valvoline, PP, Quaker State and others. Lots to choose from.

Expect to pay $4.50 to $8 a quart for the oils I listed.

Oil and filter change interval is 10K miles for your 2.0 sparker, too.

Ah ok, Thank you.

BTW, I have schange the sparks have the throtle body cleaned yet im still feeling a mild vibration during idle. I wonder if u had experience that on your VW?

I have no experience with Castrol Edge, but I know the PP works. There are those that think Edge is a great product. Give it a try and let us know how it works.
