Which oil filter should I try next.

Over the years I've owned my car, I've used ST7317, AAP gripy red, STP, Purolator Classic, and NapaProSelect(current use) oil filters with no issues. My car has 216k now and I want to upgrade to better quality filter (syn blend) that doesn't cost $10. I do 5k oci's so I don't need anything like a Mobil 1 filter. What do you guys recommend especially cost vs quality? If you have any to add to the list please do so. Out of the filters that fit my car, I'm looking at:

1)Bosch
2)PureOne. is it a gold or blue can? I've seen both
3)NapaGold

My vote is for PureOne. Almost all the PureOnes are now the grippy yellow can variety (used-to-be-blue-metallic).

I have seen defective-unuseable Bosch and NapaGold/Wix, but never an unuseable PurOne. I think the quality control is better, and filtration is slightly better.

I don't know what your oil choice is, but if you were to take advantage of the selection that PureOne has and go oversized with the filter, you could probably pair it with something like PP and easily extend your OCI's (if this is of interest to you).

I prefer the PureONEs though.
The gold can PureONE is newer and better than the old-stock blue can version.
Bosch is the same thing if you don't like the gold color.
 
Bosch Premium and Pure One are basically the same.

Either one of those as they are about the same in price.

I stand corrected on Bosch--so Bosch Premium is PureOne equiv and Bosch Bargain is Puro White Can, if I understand correctly?
 
So PureOne huh. I use dino oil, basically whatever is the cheapest or onsale. I've been using Havy DS out of my stash. My stash is dry now so I will be purchasing QS dino for $9.50 from wally world since that will be a great 5koci oil.

I didn't know that Bosh and PureOne is the same thing. I will have to check out the price of the P1 from AAP and AA.
 
Throw me in the Pure 1 camp too. They're currently painted non-slip yellow, but lots of stores still have old stock of dark blue metallic ones. The filter is the same either way.

I liked the blue better I guess, but who really cares about the color?
 
I thought the blue ones were way cool, the best-looking filters ever! (not that it matters what they look like!) I swear my car was faster with that hot electric blue metallic filter!

Seriously: isn't the "new" yellow grippy can housing an improved media as well, i.e. slightly more efficient?
 
I'm running the bosch on my toyota now - its great and sports a Silicone ADBV and filtec media. I think you can do better on oil choice tha the QS but I cant argue the engine longevity. Replace any injectors yet - my brother just traded his early q45 in the cash for clunkers program - need a couple new injectors (again).

Yeah I'll probably go back to MC5k, PYB or try the Motorcraft syn blend 5w-20 even though my car calls for 5w-30. It shouldn't hurt anything. No I haven't replaced any injectors on my Y33 yet. The early G50's 90-96 are having issues with the ethanol in gas now. The design of the injectors (old or new) were never constructed to deal with ethanol.
 
I have use my ST7317 in the past (still have about 5 in my stash) I thought i would try a Pure One for my extended drain. I'm using my first Pure One now.
 
what is wrong with the ST7317, AAP gripy red, STP, Purolator Classic, and NapaProSelect that has worked for 216K miles?

No, the premium with the 4 digit number is a PureOne, e.g., 3422.
The regular one with the five digit part number e.g. 72150 is a German made one. I know nothing about the true German ones but they are probably made by Mann filters or Knecht Filter Group.

Yep ... that seems to be the consensus around here.

Yes ... and also the new yellow PureONEs seem to flow better than the old blue ones.
