Choices being, Fram Ultra, or Honda OEM. Would be in service for around 6 months from August-February. Oil will (hopefully) be Genuine Mazda 0w20 with Moly SN. This will be run during the winter and I will still be doing many many short trips so maybe flow might be favorable for this OCI, with that in mind...would you recommend the Honda A02 or Fram Ultra for this OCI? The Fram Ultra being synthetic media and the Honda being cellulose, not sure which one might actually have better "flow". Please spare me the "flow is not important" comments. If it wasnt, the OEM's would not go out of there way to design filters that have less than stellar filtration abilities. Thanks guys!

I personally would like to see you run a Hyundai/Kia factory oil filter on your K24 and then cut it open with a review.
Fram Ultra, don't touch it for 15,000 miles.
The Fram Ultra probably flows better than the OEM Honda because the Ultra is full synthetic.
And actually flow isn't important ... because every decent brand name oil filter will flow about 15 times more volume than the engine can.
An oil filter really isn't "flow restrictive" on an engine with a positive displacement oil pump, unless the filter is very clogged. And in a case like that, the filter's bypass valve will open up and still allow oil to flow.

I thought you were a Fram Ultra fanboy and have only recommended such to others in their threads, even when the Ultra was not one of their proffered choices.

What's the cost like in your location? Up here, the cost of a Fram Ultra would be acceptable in comparison to most OEM filters. Your vehicle is dated enough that an OEM filter isn't as attractive as it might have been under warranty, but I'm also rarely going to say a bad word about OEM filters, either. I'd choose by cost and what's easier for you to get, honestly.

You won't do a lot of miles in this six months, will you?
If I'm right about that, the Ultra would be a waste unless you run it for two OCIs, which it's capable of and which Honda recommended for at least the later model years of this engine.
Really, for six months and 5-6K, I'd probably buy a basic Wix or Wix-made house brand oil filter, but that's just me.
OTOH, you can get the Ultra down below six bucks if you catch it on sale and take advantage of the $2.00 MIR.
You could also poke around online and find the Honda OEM filters at a good price if you buy at least half a dozen.

I would use what ever oil filter is cheaper. U can't go wrong with either one. I have used both oem (Toyota, gm, etc.) and fram ultra with zero problems

How many miles are you expecting to drive during this period? If it is mostly comprised of short trips, I'd just go with whatever is cheapest and call it a day. No need for anything more unless you are doing 7.5k or more.
