I'd like to know what and where I can buy a moly additive to add in a racing engine, running on Amsoil series 2000 0-30.

What are the pros and cons of using a moly additive?

What micron size?

For what it costs to purchase Amsoil 2000 0W30 and moly, you could purchase Redline oil which has been formulated with MoDTC.

Schaeffer's #132 is my recommendation.

The moly will provide friction reduction and the SbDTC add will reduce wear.

2 oz/Qt for racing, 1 oz./qt for daily drivers.

Is there such thing as too much moly? I figure that only so much is used on the uptake and plating, the rest just stays suspended. I dunno

.

FWIW, heard great things about the 132.

If you did use an additive
there would be no SIZE because
it stays within the oil as part of the oil
and does not fall out like
the natural moly... you'll be looking for a SYN

Nope, that's the natural kind. That is what most of the moard is against, and that is also...

Not the SYN unless someplace on the site they sell it now.

Now, will it work... yeah... how well in your oil and application .. donno....
NUT once its there a few thousand miles IMO it stays there for at least 15+K ???? It stays at least to keep the MPG up there in my application.
BUT it is a solid! and a BYPASS can easily filter it out.

what is wrong with this type? what type do others use?

TS-92 Super Moly Motor Oil Treatment is a proprietary formula of colloidal MoS2 and four other additives in a 10 weight oil carrier.

they also have a FAQ.

The board in general from my feel is against it.

Now, have I use it? YES

Did it work>

YES better than the Synthetic Moly!

Do you have to watch what type of OIL or RATED oil it is used within? YES- IMHO, yes! use IMO in older formulas....
Even it it increases wear slightly, it will improve MPG and a drain after three k or more, will leave the plated moly on the engine IMO and you will still keep the MPG increase and POWER increase until >>??????????? at least 14K+

There are other additives out there too, and they all have their own Plus or minus to them....

Moly is but one, and IMO a good one... Part to the equation, and I have seen many a miles over many a car under many a oil and with many an additive, and I like MOLY in heavy doseages balanced properly in an oil rather than not. This is my own OPINION. I like it!
