I have a 95 F150 with a 300 I6 motor. WIX specifies filter 51515, but they also make another filter (part # 51773) that fits my truck and is a few inches longer. Here's some specs on the two filters:

Which one would suit me best?

If there are no issues with either ground clearance or possible wrecks with moving suspension/steering parts, the larger filter would be my choice......BUT.....If you run the truck off-road at all, it might be a good idea to pass on the longer filter.

AMSOIL lists these filters:

1995 FORD TRUCKS F150 PICKUP 4.9L 6-cyl Engine Code Y

FILTERS
Oil Filter........ EAO15 AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter
Oil Filter........ 51515 WIX 51515 Oil Filter (O)
So they would agree with the filter your source recommends. The 51515 has a better nominal micron filtration number and a higher burst strength compared to the 51773, so I'd go with the stock recommendation. But consider the above EAO15 filter as it 99% efficient at 15 microns, flows better, holds more particles and is warranted for 15,000 severe miles, 25,000 normal miles, or 1 year or when you change your oil, whichever comes first. Lots of people at BITOG are giving these filters

The WIX is also available at AMSOIL since they partner with them.

Interesting data. Did you get that at the WIX website?

I was going to use the larger filter but it only filters down to 30 microns. The 51515 filters down to 19 microns.
Another option is to use the cheaper motorcraft FL1A.

I've been thinking how I can say this nicely, but I couldn't come up with a way, so I will be direct.

Please, don't spread misinformation to the newbies.

The beta ratio is what you look at when determining filtering efficiency. The beta ratio on the 51515 is 2/20=13/23. That means, it filters 50% of the particles larger than 13 microns, and it filters 95% of the particles larger than 23 microns.

Have a good one

I'd go with fleetfilter if I wanted to go Wix, but the widely available FL1A will suit you nicely.

I've tried both filters, and I noticed with my 10w30 synthetic and 5K OCIs, it seems that near the end of the OCI my oil pressure is not as great with the shorter filter. It could just be that my gauge is not that accurate.

Since the larger filter has more media AND allows more "small" particles to pass, I'd expect that the smaller, finer pore filter would clog sooner.
