I have the opportunity to negotiate a big discount for a filter manufacturer to supply our entire fleet of several hundred high mileage company vehicles. They are virtually all makes and models.

Which filter manufacturer would you recommend?

Edit: This could cover all types of filters but oil filters are most important.

If I go with Purolator, I wouldn't be buying their retail product. Do you have any knowledge of their non branded products?

Would they be a good choice for non branded air and cabin filters?

Can I consolidate down to Purolator as my one supplier?

Is their non retail offering a good enough quality for that?

What about air and cabin filters?

You could ask them which of their non-retail offerings is closest in quality and construction to the various retail ones that you would be interested in. Since you are doing this by contract (maybe by bid) they should be willing to discuss specifications, like beta ratio and square inches of media, etc. In short I'd make them work for my order or I'd go elsewhere and let them know that in a nice business kind of way.

I second Wix , they already make alot of bulk filters for napa and carquest , have been in the game for a while , however be very careful with their gaskets , sometimes they definitely dont fit right lol.

Fram / Champ should be an option, since they make a ton of product for pretty much everyone mentioned. And they have various performance offerings (standard, good, better, best).

Put together a request for quote with your make/model/years and anticipated mileage and send it to as many suppliers as you can and get the best deal. Filter companies will generally give fleets a discount not just for business, but also for access to the fleet for testing protoypes or otherwise evaluating their product.

Thanks everyone.

I am very familiar with how to set up a process for receiving bids.

What I am most interested in is which manufacturer is most likely to give me the highest quality product.

They will all compete with each other on price and I'm sure they'll all get to about the same place, but which one should I avoid because they have some filters that should be avoided.

Remember, once we sign the contract, we won't want to start analyzing every filter that we get. We want to be able to generally trust that the manufacturer only makes quality products and just couldn't substitute in anything of a quality that you guys wouldn't accept.

So if they all cost the same, which manufacturer would you trust across the widest range of filters?

Lastly would that same manufacturer be trustworthy for air and cabin filters? That'll make my sourcing really easy.

Would need to know if the vehicles are mostly spin-on or cartridge filters.

Example: Fram regular spin-on filter is avg, but their canister filter is the best out there. Make a good air filter too. Purolator makes a great spin-on, but there are issues with the canisters crushing because of a bad fit.

What kind of oil and filter change intervals (oil and air) are you planning for these "high mileage company vehicles"? This could have a factor on what oil and air filters you might want to consider.

Mainly spin on.

We'll be keeping to the manufacturer's mileage recommendations which of course differ. Oil falls between 5k to 10k. Air filters fall between 20k to 30k.

We use bulk dino oil not synthetic as it saves cost and has no impact on car life, maintenance cost or resale value for our ownership period.

As you know, manufacturers will route you to a distributor. Here's one. Affinia Ask them about "partsmaster" products - re-branded wix filters sold in bulk cheap.
