Clean 5000 carries a light diesel rating and probally is G-III. Should be good for short trips.

I like the filters and the oil has posted great results on used oil analysis here.. If I was doing supershort OCI's like proposed then this would be my juice.

5qt. jugs of Havoline are only about a $1 more than a 5qt. jug of Supertech at Walmart. I'd go Havoline from what I've seen here. I'd forget Valvoline, because I doubt you'll find good sales on it. Right now I stock up on Pennzoil when it's on sale, but I may switch over to Havoline. I bought some cheap Exxon Superflo ($0.87/qt.) for my Auto-rx that I'm running now.
According to Buster, Havoline is not only better than SuperTech, it is better that GC!

With the choices that grbr95 listed, I would pick Havoline hands down. Castrol GTX is $1.66 at WalMart in the 6qt box, so that would be my second choice.
Personally, I like SuperTech oils and my 160qt stash is mostly made up of it. They are XOM here in New England (although WPP has shown up due to shortages)and are pretty good for $1.16/qt. It's SM rated, and is just as good as any other SM for a 3K mile change, IMO.

Why is it I don't ever see Supertech filters at my Walmart?
Yeah, Supertech just went up here from $4.98 to $5.47 in the 5 quart. Havoline in the same amount is now $6.97 for the 10W30 and $7.24 for the other grades.

Havoline would be my dino choice although Pennzoil at 1.87 at my Walmart isn't too bad.

I'm with you, he asks this question or another dino version of this question every week, with over 10k members, everyone has their reason for their choices/preferences. check out the 150k or more miles club and the oils they used. You'll see it doesn't matter what brand oil you use as long as you change in resonable intervals and keep the oil full on the dipstick.

Ha-ha-ha, good one. But, a little over the top in the wild-eyed speculation department, don't ya' think, BlueWorld? I'd like to see any brand finished motor oil that meets SM/GF-4 and uses only Group I as its base stock. Warren Performance Products makes many house brand motor oils, including Sears "Spectrum" and WalMart "SuperTech", as well as their own national brand, "MAG1". I go by used oil analysis, not shoot-from-the-hip ravings from individuals with some personal agenda against a specific retail chain.

With no particular objective basis, I'd probably pick any SM motor oil over an SL motor oil - with the caveat that neither would do harm and neither would likely make more than a five mile difference in overall engine life. (How's that for a hedge?

Havoline, or Trop-Artic.
It's got nothing to do with a personal agenda and how I feel, it's how Walmart does business. Walmart continually pushes vendors for better prices and will find others if they can't. Vendors will either figure out how to continue to supply at Walmarts price or be replaced.
The problem is that once Walmart wants a price lower than Warren Performance Products is willing or able to provide, they will just switch vendors, or Warren will cheapen the blend to keep the already thin margin.
The Walmart branded oil that you see good used oil analysis from here, could be a completely different blend next week and you will have no idea it's changed. And chances are, it's not going to be an improvement.
