Im not sure if this is the correct place to post this but here i am. I went ahead and did the amazon pennzoil special on some Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 amd an XG filter even tho the oil was chaged last week. Ill change the oil when the OLM come on on my 10 impala. Question is should i store the oil and filter in a certain place? It will prob b 6 months till my next oil change. Also my car only has a 4 quart sump so 2 quarts of oil ill prob have 4 a year unless i need a top off.

Mine sets on a shelf in my unheated garage, still have four bottles of M1 I got in '10 that will be used next change(sometime next year)...

The filters are no issue for storage if they sit in their packaging.

Just shake the oil bottles up well before you use them, some of the additives might settle a bit. Then relax

Where ever you want really, I've got 100's of quarts in to different closets, some 3-5 years old. Just shake up before use if worried, I'm using some SM maxlife in car right now.

Oil filters hate humidity, so store inside where its air conditioned in the summer (lower humidity usually), and in the garage in the winter in a dry spot.
Oil in a closed container is fine no matter what. You do want to shake it a bit though before you pour it since some additives will try to concentrate in the bottom.

Oil protects for thousands of miles in an engine but people worry about it sitting sealed for a year!

This. I store my oil in an unheated garage, but I keep my stash of filters in a closet in the house for this very reason. I don't want any rust to form from too much humidity in a non-climate controlled garage. If they aren't going to be stored for long, then it may not matter. I tend to buy a case at a time off of eBay. I keep my vehicles a LONG time. :-)

I keep my oil and filters in the basement. I take sandwich wrap, the plastic kind, and seal the bottom of the filters with it. That helps to keep dampness out if you have a damp basement.

I actually heard that humidity can soften the paper cellulose filter media elements. When its in your engine, of course its soaked in oil, so water not as much of an issue. When stored, paper absorbs moisture. If you were using synthetic fiber oil filters like Fram Ultra, Royal Purple, Purolator Synthetic, or Amsoil EA, then I think you could store it wrapped up anywhere.
