Some clown sent me a Western Union money order, but the places that sell Western Union money orders do not cash them, at least the ones I tried gave me the boot. That particular Western Union m/o was purchased at a 7-Eleven, but the 7-Eleven stores that we have here want nothing to do with a m/o.

The Western Union website is no help either, only telling me the following:

Quote:

8. Where can I cash a money order?

In the United States, some will, depending on the policies of the cashing location. However, Western Union Agent locations are not required to cash a Western Union Money Order payment instrument.

Western Union Money Order Agent locations are authorized sellers of Western Union Money Order payment instruments, but they are independent businesses that establish their own policies about the payment instruments they will cash.

Does anybody know who cashes a Western Union m/o in California? So far not even the Western Union affiliates will take it. That's insane.

If you are here illegally you could go to a check cashing place, they'll cash it for a fee. Otherwise, I'd just go to my bank and cash it.

Then he should have said "were here illegally" in an effort to not be insulting.

Of course, with his English being substandard, I have no idea about "Lou's" legal status, and the joke's very much on him. Isn't Lou a French name?

So they looked befuddled at that m/o at my bank. The sexy Chinese lady clerk slunk off to powwow with her boss Who Flung Dung, who told her, yes, this thing was legit and they could deposit it. So I got my 50 bucks. Yikes. I suppose getting a m/o is still better than having to accept kauri sea shells...

The only reason for not using your bank is if you're earning money via some underground economy. The IRS only need see how much money is going in and out of your checking account to have you account for it. Cashing checks outside of YOUR bank (cashing at the issuing bank, etc.) avoids this "trail".

Hard to believe that they gave you a hassle at your bank. I can deposit toilet paper at my bank. The funds won't be available until it clears ..but they don't care.

Relax, I was kidding. Many people in California don't have legal status here, and as a consequence the "check cashing" stores are a good business. Our temp agency pays their workers in debit cards (which should be illegal). It wasn't pointed at you directly. As Pablo said, I was rhetorically speaking.

Anyway, I thought you didn't care what people thought of you?

Where did I say I cared what people think? You may think whatever you want, but expect a response to what you put out.

You are contradicting yourself. Were you "kidding," which means you did aim your comment at me, or were you merely "rhetorically" speaking? You can't have it both ways.

When you say "you" to a person, you have to expect this to be taken literally. Use "one" if you don't mean the person you are otherwise addressing to avoid any "misunderstanding." The English language allows you to avoid such "misunderstandings."

What bothers me most about your comment is your compulsive obsession with just having to add to constantly add to your posts bleeping-illegal-aliens-are-occupying-and-ruining-my-homeland comments. Wasn't there a forum rule about keeping political commentary to oneself, uhm I mean, YOURSELF? Would you like me to point out all your future political commentary from now on?

Whatever Mori, you said I should say it a certain way so "as not to be insulting". I didn't mean to be insulting, I tried to clarify. I am not interested in verbal entanglement for sport. So have a nice day!
