Where do you buy your car parts?.,,

For my Toyota's I've gotten from the dealer some oil and filters, coolant and wiper blades. The rest has been small parts from toyotapartsdeal.com (or somesuch), and OEM filters off eBay. Honestly, I'd rather order online, and then I'll shop for price and/or quality. I'll only buy locally if I absolutely have to--it's a 30 mile drive (or more) to get parts. I certainly call ahead!

Back when I had my VW I used IDParts.com for most all my VW parts needs. Back then I mailordered everything, including oil.

Big things I can wait for: Rock Auto and Amazon. It's nice they stock OEM parts.

Need it now: AAP w/discount codes. Gotten good deals on spark plug wires, brakes, O2 sensors many times.

Filters and oil: Walmart FTW

I too have scored great deals on Amazon warehouse deals.
Brake pads, rotors, timing belt kits, all listed and sold at "used" prices - only to be brand new items in a broken retail box. Everything inside has always been sealed.

If you don't like the part or the gamble didn't pay off, simply using Amazon's free return still applies.

ya, I got a "Used" on Amazon a Helly Hansen winter parka for $49.99... It was actually new, only the tags fell off and they were put in the pocket.

Couldn't believe it, what a deal.

Super Cheap, awesome quality!

Ecogard! I knew I was forgetting one.

I've been super impressed with Pentius and Ecogard stuff. I always compare them to OE construction and the quality and fit is always the same for all the Ford and Asian apps I've done.

I work on lots of Toyotas. So far the following brands have had OE quality fitment and build if you ever need alternate sources.

EP Auto cabin air filters (Amazon)
Pentius/Ecogard air filters (Amazon)
Mann air filters (Amazon)
Michelin wiper blades (sold at walmart and others)
Fram Tough guard oil filters (Walmart, Amazon)

O'Reilly or the dealer for the most part. Occasionally I'll go to AutoZone or Napa, depending on what I need and what is on sale.

Like others, I've gotten tired of the poor quality of locally available aftermarket parts. My local Toyota dealer gives me a discount that is pretty close to what I can find online, and there's no shipping (and if I do have to return something it's easy). But for the most part I buy Toyota parts online from a dealer, Honda parts online (BK Honda because it's next-day via regular UPS), and BMW parts from Husker BMW or the usual Euro sites. Once in a while I shop Amazon but for OEM parts it's still more expensive than the lowest online dealers.

The local shops like Autozone or NAPA are sometimes twice the cost of an OEM part online. It's just not worth it.

It depends...don't see a vehicle in your sig.

Very rare anyplace locally has parts for the sled, except a few Volvo indy's and the dealer. The later is far to expensive for me. Thus I order about everything on-line: RMEuropean, AutohausAZ, FCP, and Volvo dealers steeply discounting parts.

I do a lot with www.autohausaz.com. Couldn't have afforded driving my 330ci without them. Check them out - good prices and free shipping over $75. Been using them since buying my Bimmer in 2002. They cover everything from Acura toVW. In business since '79, never a problem with them.

When i had the shop i used Napa, AAP, Auto Zone but i had a platinum account with AAP and auto zone so i got a really good price.. I would always go online but i needed parts that day not in a few days for my customers.

For OEM -- eEuroparts for the SAABs, Delray Acura for the RDX (or whatever dealer with online sales offers a good price...lately Delray wins and the shipping is decent for my location). The online places beat my local Acura/Honda dealers by a mile. eEuro is crazy expensive for both parts and shipping but I haven't had much luck with other SAAB vendors so I just have to accept that as a Stupid Tax for having two unsupported cars in the fleet.

Aftermarket -- I check AAP first, then AutoZone, to see if they have what I want in the store. I avoid O'Reillys altogether because every time I check a price there they're not even in the same ballpark as the others. If I have to order online I cross-check with Amazon. Probably order from Amazon 50% of the time now.

If I can wait I shop Rock Auto vs. Amazon.

If I can't wait I have the following shops in my town. I go online see which shops have the part I need, and which one has the best prices. No alliance to any of them...whichever has the part I need at the best price is where I go. They are all within a mile or two of each other.

O'Reilly
Advance
Auto Zone
Napa

We also have an Arnold Motor Supply as a last resort...but they don't have all the online stuff and you have to call.
