Where did Ubuntu go?

Long story short: My office PC has Windows and Ubuntu installed. Normally when I boot up, the first screen that comes up asks me to choose which operating system I want to boot into. I just upgraded Windows from Vista to 7. The upgrade was painless, but now when I boot up, it goes straight into Windows without giving me the option to boot into Ubuntu. Based on the HDD size I am seeing in Windows Explorer, the Ubuntu partition is still there; I just have no idea how to access Ubuntu now. Any ideas???

Same thing happened to me, there are threads in the Ubuntu forums about how to deal with this. Basically, the Windows bootloader overwrites Grub, the Ubuntu bootloader, when you install Windows 7. I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it, but I know that I found it in the Ubuntu forums.

Title of post should be "why did windows screw up my dual boot machine?" lol.

All windows was doing was installing itself. It does not know or care that something else was in the MBR.

I ended up removing the Ubuntu partition and reclaiming the space for Windows 7, using the freeware version of EASEUS Partition Master. I probably won't re-install Ubuntu on this desktop PC, since I have it installed on my netbook.

I love EASEUS Partition Master! Hurray for free software

Back in the day we had to pay good money for that sort of functionality, product was called Partition Magic and I think they charged like $50 for it.

EASEUS was awesome, and sooooooo easy to use; it had to be easy, since I'm not a techie. Kudos to that program's developer!
