One Drive captured and stored my data without having an account (speculation)

What do you think all those backdoors in windows were just a mistake?
No. This is why is avoid closed-source software when I can. You?

I am very hesitant to ask... What is your point? Do you believe that backdoors (I'd LOVE to hear what you believe that means in technological terms) engineered into an operating system have some relationship to the business model of mining data from your activity? Do you believe that Microsoft was using these, ahem, backdoors to steal your data and sell it to advertisers? What do you believe the purpose of this nefarious, mysterious activity is/was?

I'd really love to hear more about what you know. What about this very web site? Or the shadowy organization that may have more information about you than Billy or Jeffy or Marky or Elony or, well, Larry: Your internet service provider?

I wanted to do a deep dive on my current One Drive issues before re-posting.

I was doing some file maintenance in my local drive; relocating/consolidating files and folders in a more intuitive manner. It was getting difficult to find where things were stored. The "search" function doesn't do much good when you've forgotten the name of what you're looking for.

Somehow, One Drive managed to really screw up most of the +5000 service manual files I downloaded from TIS. Who knows what other files are also affected?
  • Duplicate files where created with random file names that cannot be text searched via File Explorer; no longer contain images/tables/formatting.
  • Some files with recognizable file names are also missing images and tables.
In essence, One Drive just screwed me out of +$100 and more than 12 hours of work.

Currently, I'm working on clearing out what's in One Drive so I can permanently remove it from my system - very tedious.

Another thing about One Drive; it has a re-syncing issue. It randomly creates file copies on re-sync. At least these copies have added, "copy" to their file names.
