Where can I buy filter cutter/opener?

To cut open a spin-on filter without getting metal residue in the filter media? Getting ready to change out the oil on the ford escape that got driven a few miles on dry sump. Need to see if filter is holding anything visible. Debating whether to capture a sample during the draining to send to Blackstone. About 150 miles on the oil and filter since refilling after the dry run. have a new 5 liter jug of motorcraft 5W20 syn blend and a new filter standing by.

There's a couple of types of exhaust tube cutters available. Many years ago I worked with the type below and remember it as working well. It seems to me this type would be ideal for cutting filter canisters.

You should still look at the camshaft saddles in the heads. you may not necessarily see metal in the filter and these can still be damaged. The aluminum will just look gouged and displaced and create large press. losses and top end noise.
