On my 5.3 GM engine I have 1900 miles with dino (5w30). I was planning on driving it to 3000 miles before switching to syn(GC). A lot of cold weather moving in this week(0 degrees). Should I switch over now or wait until I reach the 3000 mile mark which will take another month to reach ?

Well, up here in Alaska I run 5w30 in my work truck all winter with no problems. And that includes 30-40 below. I would say don't change over until the milages says its due.

All Corvette's, Porsche's, etc. come with Mobil 1 synthetic from the factory... It is never too soon to switch to full synthetic... However, a couple of quick inexpensive mineral base changes does help to flush the debris from build, initial high wear, but nothing precludes full synthetic from day one..

I switched my Tacoma over to synthetic at around 1500 miles on the ODO. The first synthetic was changed at 5000 on the odo or 6 months. I now run 6 month/6000 mile intervals. My vehicles are all under the "super severe service" since they are beat on severely!
