Got a good laugh today at the local Meijer.

With all the Dexos certs, I never though I see this one-Royal Purple.

But there it was, right on the bottle.

Thought I'd share that with everyone...

Why is that a good laugh?

Maybe because in the past, Royal Purple oils lacked even the API starburst (I think), but now have that AND the Dexos cert. I'm just hazarding a guess though. It's late... or early...

At least to me, I never expected them to do it....

I want to say just certified, because I do not remember there being much writing above and beyond that.

But thinking about it now, I'm not for sure. Will have to go back and take a good look this time.

Dexos1 is one of those 'trying to be center of the universe' and control how people view it.

The bottom line is it's only relative in a certain sense and it's really not in of itself an oil, but a spec that is trying to garner respect and has it's own 'standards'. According to who? Why? Why better than another oil in a certain area? They say so? I mean really.

I write "Meets or exceeds BITOG standards." with a Sharpie on every quart I buy as per recommendations here.

Turns out its very good oil usually, I highly recommend it.

I looked at the Royal Purple Website today. I only see that it is API Licensed SN motor oil. It meets or exceeds dexos specifications. Maybe I am missing something?

I work at a "GM Good wrench Quick lube" center and we sell a Kendell version of the Dexos oil. IMHO its just a glorified Synthetic oil.they say the only comparable oil is Mobil 1. I think that's a bunch of bull[censored].
