When are the Fire Sales on API-SM coming?!

As mentioned before in my earlier post, SOPUS for Pennzoil conventional, stopped producing SM GF-4 oil in October of 2010.

However a good deal to be found, is the Gallon Jugs of Pennzoil conventional at Kmart with the "born on" dates of December, 2010. These Pennzoil conventional Gallons are GF4, SM but IMHO....contain SN, GF-5 since they were only producing SN, GF-5 after October, 2010.

If you should see this oil marked down....you have yourself a great deal! Unfortunately, as of today, these Gallon Jugs are priced at $18.49 plus tax....so they are not a deal.

I think there's enough sales volume of oil, and slow turnover in spec, that they're not worried about being stuck with old stock.

At a store you may find they've just mixed up the bottles of SM and SN.
I picked up PP at O'Reilly last month when it was on "sale", and it was all brand new SN.

I just jumped on the 5qts of Havoline/Puro filter at AAP for $13.99. Bought 2 and had a $5 of $25 coupon also.
Worked out to about $2.07 per item after tax. Could have bought more and and spent up to >$100 and had $20 off.

These oil/filter specials weren't working on their website with the discount codes so I used the coupon that I received in the mail. The online 40% off could have been a great score if I could have spent over $100. That's like 8 OCI's worth(Havoline/Purolator). Would have cost $1.51-$1.58 per item online if I was able to get the code to work.
I don't remember where the tax is added on the web site; before the discount or after the discount. Now that would have been a decent score...Oh well, next time!
