Wheel Wax

I've been using this product for a couple of years now, and have finally gone through one can. I'm trying to decide if I should buy another can of this stuff or try something new.

I have had moxed results with Wheel Wax. It does indeed leave a wax coating on the wheels that seems fairly long lasting, and heat resistant. It does clean brake dust off of wheels and leaves them sparklely clean. It does not prevent further reoccurance of brake dust.

I know wheels are going to dust, some more, some less. Wheel Wax claims that with use it creates some kind of polar barrier on the wheels and brake dust has a diffiecult time sticking to it. Did I mention it cleans the wheels well?

Yeah dust still sticks.

Anyone have another, similar product I could try and compare to Wheel Wax?

if you have used it, what is your opinion of Wheel Wax?

It isn't the easiest product to use on wheels and I don't know if it is worth the difficulty.

I use PB EXP on my wheel. Not the best but the dust comes right off.

synthetic spray detailer such as Finish Kare 425 or Duragloss Aquawax might hold up under wheel heat.

Thanks mshu7, I buy from autogeek and was looking at this on their site the other day. Have you used this and Wheel Wax? If so, how do they compare?

No problem ccd. I actually just received some in the mail today. I can't wait to use it. One of the senior members over at the AutoGeek.net forums said just the other day that he thinks PB's Wheel Sealant is the best protection for wheels that AG has to offer.

I'm recovering from a minor back surgery so it'll be about a month before I can test it out. But I think it's safe to say it's a good product.

I just use whatever sealant I'm currently using on the rest of the car. I've had good luck with a variety of products this way, and the wheels are always very easy to clean, and one of my cars produces a ton of brake dust.

Just keep them regularly coated since any wheel cleaner product is most likely harsh enough to strip a sealant off. I've actually taken to using an old lambswool mitt to clean my wheels, just using the soap in my wash bucket (AFTER I've washed the rest of the car!!!) as a detergent. Works great. My current sealant of choice is Meguiar's #20.

I've been using PB wheel sealant and love the stuff. My wheels clean up so easy and 3 coats (1 hour cure time after each application) has lasted my 2 months. The water just beads and rolls right off....

303 Aerospace Protectant for my painted steel wheels that have some sort of clear coating atop the paint.

Can't say it will work for thee but does an adequate job of doing what a protectant does over here on the truck that draws falling tree branches like an all-you-can-eat buffet draws me and all the unskinny folks I know.

Works for me too, on clear coated aluminum wheels. I spray them right along with the tires and wipe them both off in a few minutes. It makes brake dust easier to remove too.
