I have been using any old car wax for my wheels and they look
alright. Will a wax made specifically for wheels make a big
difference, or is it a scam? Thanks

There's no real difference on wheel wax other than the fact it might be "longer lasting" or whatever.

Lots of folks like Collinite 845 for its durability.

I just starting using Collinite on my new car and did the wheels along with the rest of the car and I have to say the stuff is great and wears like iron. It is so cool to watch the water bead up on your rims!

Will be interesting to see how it holds up to the winter weather and road treatments.

I used Wheel Wax when it came out years ago. I wasn't really impressed by it. You can only apply it to one wheel at a time because if it dries too long it's a pain to remove. It doesn't last super long for the work involved applying the product.

I agree with others using a good sealant like Collinite to protect your wheels and make them easy to clean.

Is this the stuff which Tire rack used to sell in the small, black container?

I had some, and in less than a year, it had the FUNKIEST odor I have ever smelled from a wax/detail product

(to the point that I could not even use it anymore!).

I was NOT impressed, especially not for the cost.

Another vote for 845IW!

Yea, I believe that was it. Mine really smells bad and just sits in my detailing cabinet haha.

I've tried the official WheelWax, and it was all hype. It was OK, but no better than any decent sealant. It also was more difficult to work with vs DG105, etc. Now, I simply use whatever I use on the paint. I also often hit them with AquaWax.
