If you throw it in the glove box or console so a repair shop can find it easily, it often rolls around and makes annoying noise. If you stick it in the tool bag by the spare tire, a tech still has to go looking for it maybe under the spare or with the jack. Thought of this (probably not just me) idea of using a neodymium magnet you can stick anywhere near the spare which would be the most logical place to look,

and then the key will stick to that,

Under $2.

Good idea. Most of the ones I’ve seen come in a package that you have a place for four lug nuts and the key. You put the lug nuts in when you take them off when you buy the set and put the locks on. Most of the ones I see come in are in the package near the spare tire or in the glovebox. Rarely do I see the single key but that is a good compact idea.

Having to dig under the pile of crap in the trunk to get to the spare tire area to find a wheel lock tool pisses me off. Epoxy that magnet into the glove box and you have something. Wheel locks piss me off to start with and the less I have to dig for the key the better

If you want to leave it in the glove box , there are a zillion options for things to keep it in so it doesn't roll around . A local Auto Repair shop was giving out little suede bags with their logo on it . Perfect for key storage .

Not a bad idea, although I rarely go into the trunk that far, and I do several tire rotations per year. I don't use the tools that came with the car for rotations. If it was me (and it's not) I'd probably replace the locks with regular lugs. Failing that, buy a second one: one for the trunk as mentioned, and one for my toolbox. Or put into a padded baggie for the glovebox.

Not a bad idea. But with my driving it would probably fall off...

I just removed my wheel locks and put the regular lug nuts on. The paint is fading on my wheels so if they want them, they can have them...

After losing two wheel lock keys for the same car, finally removed the wheel locks.
Getting older, forgetting things more often. Forgot to remove the key after using it.

Mine go in the pouch and stay in the glove box. If I bring it in for a service that requires removal the pouch is either left on the passenger seat or the cup holder in the center console.
