What's your take on rebuilt title cars?

My advice would be to find a BMW spcialist near you and arrange for them to do a pre-purchase inspection of the vehicle. You might also contact your insurance company and see what the ramifications are for them to insure a rebuilt titled vehicle. Some of the major insurance carriers will stay away from those. Good Luck

I would rather have a body shop and BMW mechanic near the seller to do an inspection before I pay for it. If either of them notices something is off, the deal is off.

Nope.

Some things I found weird about the post;

1.) OP mentions all damage is up front but neglects the drive front window taped up (and presumably broken) in the picture.
2.) Doesn't mention what the accident was. IMO it looks like the car ran off the track, through the grass, and into a guard rail.
3.) Only one picture of the damage. Even if the damage was only superficial, I'd expect a lot more pictures of any damage on an M3.
4.) I have a hard time accepting the car got totaled out to a rebuilt title with just bumper, headlight, radiator, and hood for a M3 of that low of miles which leads me back to #2 and #3. I could be wrong on #2-4, but if I am wrong, still a no from me with that price, mileage, and rebuilt title.

EDIT: If the car was at like $15k, then I'd consider it strictly as a track-only car. But for nearly $30k? Heck no.

I don't know bout those cars in particular, but people seem to think that titles like that are worth LOT less than market value. While technically that is probably true, I have found that somebody will give the asking price, or near to it. So, I feel if you wan† it, and you feel´ it is a good deal, and it was repaired well, go for it.

Insurance companies are quick to total M-cars but still that seems like a lot of money for a high maintenance M-car. You're going to have to do the rod bearings anyways. Are you aware of how hard it is to find ignition coils for the S65? Last I heard they were almost impossible to find.

PPI obviously. There's a lot of broken parts up front.

I contacted my indy about RB. About $2200 to do those

Are you the seller ? 😂

Ignition coils are almost impossible to find as well. Then there's the throttle actuator service., leaking rear diffs, etc. At least it's a manual.
TA have been done, I can do Ignition coils and plugs that's easy. Leaking rear diff? Never heard of that on the E9x chassis. It's a 7-speed DCT transmission, Not manual.

Sure the coils are easy but try finding them outside the dealer. The S65 uses special coils. ~$250/ea from the dealer. Bosch are backordered.

DCT. Ugh...they've had issues as well. I wouldn't pay more than $20k for it.

One thing to keep in mind is that insurance will likely be more expensive. I'm a Farmers agent, and on our auto policies there is a surcharge for vehicles with documented damage or rebuilt titles. Insurance varies by state, so you may want to contact your insurance agent and get a quote before you buy the car so there are no surprises.
