I'm not picky either. I have a Puro Classic on my wife's car. An orange Fram on my daughter's Saturn and some brand of Champ E-core on my old Cherokee. I guess I'm not a filter snob. lol

I stocked up on PureOnes when Amazon had them on a hot deal several years ago. I happened to catch a NAPA store having some re-badged Wix filters that I also stocked up on.
That being said, most oil filters don't scare me. I've also run E-Cores, Fram-built MicroGards and el cheapo PartsMasters. Yesterday I hit a Menards and got some of their $2 rebadged Purolators. If changed at 5K or less, the oil is more important than the filter.

My Vue takes a cartridge and I have some AC Delco I got cheap from rockauto.
My Civic is starting a run of Fram Ultra, bought when they first came out at Pep Boys - 2 for $9.99. Will run 2x OCI on each one; so $2.50 per OCI cost. Will likely buy more when needed, as the filter is in a place that is guaranteed to get oil all over your arm when removing. Every other OCI is a big bonus here.

For my Modular I only use the FL-820S, but when I do other cars I usually go with Fram. The Fram Ultra is a great filter and would be my filter of choice with any other type of engine.

But aftermarket filters a lot better than Toyota Denso filters.

Mostly use PureOne filters now. Have a FRAM Ultra in line to try on the Altima V6.

I like mahle the best, but I use mobil 1 and bosch D+ too. In my opinion, Mahle has the best made most consistantly uniform filters available; not necessarily the best filtering, but, quality-wise Mahle is unbeatable.

Edited - I use Donaldson on my personal truck (ford f-250 powerstroke) and I really like their higher end filters as well.

Pure One or MC in the Cherokee, Bosch Premium in the boat, Bosch D+ in the Dodge, Fram Ultra in the xB, Puro clone ProLine in the 7.3 (because I CLEANED OUT the local PepBoys when they clearanced them)-but for the relatives' cars & the 6.2-the $1.99 QS (currently on sale at Menards) CAN'T be beat!

P1, D+, Puro Classic.
I have some of each and am pretty well stocked up for the moment.
There were some great MIR deals on Purolator/Bosch oil filters in 2011, especially when combined with an AAP coupon code and sale pricing.
I do need to pick up a couple of oil filters for the '12 Accord.

I have a stash of RP filters for my car because they were the only full synthetic filters I could get. I don't use RP engine oil.

Mom's 2005 Jeep GC: MC400
Dad's 2007 Pontiac G6: whatever is cheap. I got plenty of American made filters from Pep Boys and they were cheaper than any other filter, and none of those filters were made in the USA.

That's a mute point. The OEM filter has adequate efficiency and sufficient capacity for the OEM recommended interval. There is no reason to believe that a higher-efficiency filter will provide a realized benefit to the end user if it is used for the OEM recommended interval.

I really dont understand why ford guys are so stuck on the 820s. Yeah its a good low priced filter but there are a lot of filters with silicone ADBVs and better construction and efficiency. The real reason I think, is all the mod guys think it helps start up rattles. The reality is if you dump the 5/20 and go with 5/30 you dont even need an ADBV to keep it from rattling in the morning. The oil is the problem and the filter is not the solution

I don't know if it's totally mute. Personally, I'd rather use a filter rated at 99% @ 20 microns (ie, PureOne) than 50% @ 20 microns (Toyota OEM). That's just my preference, even if there was proof my motor would only last 10 miles longer for using the better filter.

Honestly it is an excellent filter for the price. (Typically $3.99 by me) Also, Ford specs a filter with the Bypass in the thread end of the filter and as far as I know, no other major brand makes a filter like this. Between warranty compliance and excellent value, I really don't see the need to look at a different filter.

5w20 is what Ford recommends and is also what I've run in all the Modulars I've owned over the years(Since it was deemed acceptable by Ford) and the engines always run quiet and smooth. I have never experienced a need to run 5w30 or really any difference in noise or smoothness after switching over my higher mileage Mods when 5w20 became the norm.

Glad to hear its working for ya. I like the 820s too but just because its a cheap priced high quality filter. I dont think the bi pass realy effects anything but I have never clogged a filter either. I have run many different filters on my truck with no problems.
The particular mod engines I was talking about are the 5.4 three valve engines. They rattle like crazy. Guys blame after market filters but really just stepping up to 5/30 shuts em up.

Yeah, if it weren't for the warranty (and my car was CPO so 7 year, 100k power train too) I would be running a Fram Ultra. I loved that filter on my 200 running close to 8k OCI with Pennzoil Ultra.

And I know what you mean about the 5.4 3valves...My Friend had an 08 F-150 that always made noise from about 5k miles but nothing helped it. Between that and the plug issues, they weren't the most trouble free Mod engines.

Today I purchased a WIX 51085 XP, a great solid well built oil filter for $10.25.

I am going to start using a full synthetic oil for this application supported with a UOA for an extended drain interval.
