12K in an 04 Ascender with Amsoil XL 5W-30. Oil still was a nice golden yellow when drained. OLM hit zero that's why I changed it. Should of done a UOA oh well next time.

Nonsense. I too run conventional to around 7,000 - 8,000 miles. I only change it twice a year, spring and fall, regardless of mileage. I've been following that schedule since the mid-1990's without a single issue, with vehicles well in excess of 200,000 miles on them when sold. It's always been conventional, usually whichever name brand is on sale when I'm ready to change the oil.

5000 miles, just like it says in the owners manual.I change in Spring and Fall, regardless of how many miles are on the oil at that specific time.It has worked out for me for years and dont plan on changing anytime soon.

Not at the 24k interval. I still have the filter and plan on sending it out for analysis to see how loaded it was.
man...I can't see how that can work...diesels soot up oil pretty good. You're a lot braver then I am

I was doing UOA's during my long-drain experiment, and soot loading was still not high at 24k miles. I don't have my engine fueled up to insanity like some diesel guys do.

7500 on M-1 0w20.....just to be safe. Works great with the Fram ULTRA filter by using it for two OC"s (2 X 7500).

But....I feel I could go 10,000 without any issues.

Just got to 9500 miles on PP in the subi. This is my longest OCI to date for this vehicle. I plan on going another 1000-2000 miles and off to the lab for an analysis.

On my C Class Mercedes, the factory fill I sadly put 13,000 miles. Now, I don't totally regret it. Mercedes (non AMGs) come with a break in oil, so I would have wanted to have it in there a good 8000 miles or so, but 13,000 I wish I had not done. However, that was the recommended OCI.

Now, I drive the car less and it gets changed about every 4,000 miles (1 year).

I went over 8000kms on my last oci of m1 afe as per tigs recommendation. I changed it due to long idling times not mileage per say. I'm slowly coming around to believing in the thin oil recommendations.
It's tough as I was always a thicker is better kinda guy but the 20 grades have been around long enough now and I haven't heard of an engine dissolving yet.
This fill was 0w-20 eneos(gallon) and 2 quarts m1 0w-40. The hemi is much less noisy on the bottom end with this mix.
Pp and afe made the bottom end sound almost like a diesel but when I changed the oils out nothing abnormal in the filters and the oils didn't smell burnt.

what is the truck?

AN 05 GMC diesel with 6.6 Duramax. However I didn't go with Amsoil this time. I went with Shell Rottella 3 ( yellow can) I figure the UOA cost almost the same as 10qts. of Shell oil. I will see how long the computer tells me to run the oil then decide if Amsoil series 3000 is worth it anymore. Amsoil is a pain anyway to line up my dealer.

My longest OCI was my last one on my '03 Honda S2000 at 40,000 miles. The previous one was just under 40,000 miles, and in the next month or two I'll have 40,000 miles on my next OCI. My car has 267,000 miles, and it runs like new.

I use Amsoil 0W-30 with a bypass filter and prelube pump. I test my oil at each oil change. Here is my latest UOA.

I went 8000 with PYB 10W-40 with an orange Fram filter after interpreting my VW Jetta's manual saying it could go 10k miles OCI. This was pre-BITOG. I was burning a quart per 1k miles a month before I changed it. After reading through the forums here, I went with dino ST 10W-40 and 10W-30 with OEM filer for 5000 miles. Consumption went down 1/3 qt per 1k miles. Now I have Mag1 synth 5W-40 and plan 10k OCI. My first 1k miles have not consumed oil yet.

You forgot to add...that you used 10 quarts of additional oil to get to 40,000.

Your vehicle either burns a lot of oil....or....or it leaks a lot of oil. Which is it?
