There isn't many dinner in a can choices, my favorite when I don't have time to cook is frozen Marie Callender's pasta that they are on sale often for $2 or less.
A can of winter sprats with some bread will do for me. I also used to like Campbell's Chunky Corn Chowder. As far as the TV dinners... I ate so many of them when I was younger, I still don't feel like looking at one.
My favorite "Pogey Bait" in the Army was Ravioli-Os.
For those days that I got the completely inedible pork-pattie MRE.
I could eat them cold if I got stuck in the turret on long field problems.
Me and the kiddo tried to eat some Ravioli-Os for lunch the other day. They are not Franco-American anymore and they are not edible anymore. They were terrible. (note to self...Ravioli-Os are not acceptable rations for disaster kit)
I ended up just boiling some spaghetti and dumping some Paul Newman's marinara from a jar on it (like I should have done in the first place)
Can't go wrong with the nice rounded can of SPiced hAM! Especially if you've got a cast iron skillet in which to brown it up nicely. Although I have been known to slice off bits with my pocketknife and eat as-is.
No stove? The best meal in a can then is Guinness!
