Wholesale prices are down about 35 cents in the last couple of weeks. Prices in Pa. have dropped about 10 cents to 2.89 bc the local gas stations can still get $2.89

Basically, end of the driving season and slower economy. Noone can make any predictions as long as Iran remains a lose cannon. It seems likely that Israel will bomb them within a year.

It has been a long time since gas has been below $3/gallon. That would be a real nice... But as Al said - I don't think things are going to stay that low for very long. With Iran preventing UN Nuclear inspectors from their country - things are bound to get bad soon. I think more effort should be put into getting gas from Canada and Mexico - it would be a wise investment.

The family I used to rent with in Iowa (2 years ago) had 4-5 6gal gas cans. They drove so little that that was bout all the gas they needed for a while. Back then gas was actually $1.60/gal (pre-Katrina). Ahh the good ole' days

.

I hope it keeps dropping. That will really help moral and the economy.

I guess California wants to work those gas station employees. Prices here change all the time (every day to every other day). Where I live tends to be the highest gas prices in a 50+ mile radius. So they change the most. At work - they change maybe once or twice a week. If I recall correctly - a past bitog post - gas station owners have no control over the gas prices.

What is up with the gas prices? They dropped 30+ cents here where I live. ($3.39/gal to $3.09/gal) Haven't seen it this low for awhile. Reason why I ask is - wasn't gas prices supposed to be going up because of the broken BP pipeline? Anyone know?

I'm a little bummed - filled up gas tank from empty yesterday for $3.39/gal - today pass by station and see it for 30 cents less.

Watch it go back up when I need more gas.

It's gone down $.20+ here. I saw $2.76 yesterday. I don't know the exact reason, but I hope the trend continues. Look for the prices to start going back up in preparation for Labor Day, though. Hopefully they'll start going back down after that.

The reason the BP shutdown didn't affect things is that the reduction in oil flow was actually only half of the original predictions and can easily be made up with oil from elsewhere.

Seeing what the market will bear.

Since 2004, the top 5—ConocoPhillips, Valero, ExxonMobil, Shell and BP—controlled 56.3% and the top ten refiners controlled 83% of US refining capacity.

Act unilaterally . . . but keep close eye on that tiny group of competitors.
