Whats so great about Jeeps?

As said and speaking specifically of recent Wranglers, name another light and nimble (relative to what they are), small, open true off roader still available with a manual and wind up windows that has one of the best turning radiuses of any vehicle? The base 2 door Wrangler is about as close that a vehicle can remain to its heritage in light of modern automotive standards. Granted the price you pay for that is iffy ergonomics, a tiring highway ride, noise and some measure of quality if one cares.

It is a "Jeep thing", you either love them for what they are or just don't like them...seems to be not many in between. We love ours. I finally surrendered to ducking, with the car driven by wife and teenage daughter, resistance was futile.

i had 2012 and 2013 wranglers that were junk from the day i bought them new. my 97 TJ has a 4.0, got it with 200k miles on it and it is more reliable than either of the newer ones ever were!

yes they are fun! like dating a stripper. part of you knows it is a bad idea, but you just can't stop yourself!!

My wife says they bought the brand because it is easy to spell

Talking to a local near Zion with a Wrangler, he said they're like Legos for adults.

When my sister bought a Wrangler I took a picture of everyone in front of it, instead of "cheese" I had them yell "WARRANTY CLAIM!". Not everyone thought it was as funny as I did.

I have just 2 ducks - they are from the ladies I live with - off limits Bucky!!!

I had an old Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 in it. It ran forever but everything else in it didn’t work lol. I currently have a new one 2023 and it’s way nicer and have had no issues in the two plus years I’ve had it. The 3.6 and ZF transmission is pretty reliable and the interior is way nicer. It’s driven on snow days in place of the GTI

as a side note, i strongly advise against dating a stripper with over 200k miles on her!

My JLU will be 5 in June - 0 issues - DD, and it’s done hundreds of miles in 4WD … The JL’s are better driving vehicles than some here imagine if they were only around the older models … Come pretty well loaded if you like …

we have a 2005 Jeep GC Laredo that has ~205K on it and the youngest is still using it as his daily driver. I understand this is not a "real" Jeep but it has been pretty good to us. Bought it in ~2011 with 82K on it. Regular maintenance and a few things extra for a vehicle with >200K hasn't been bad.

Lota friends with Wranglers and JKs. They are a lot of fun with the top and doors off. Definitely not a commuter or a vehicle that you need to stay clean and comfortable in (i.e. going to weddings and job interviews).

Other than in war or on a farm, I don't see a lot of utility to them. These are fun rigs but that's it. I group them with boats, jet-ski's and hot tubs. Strong wants, no need. So yeah I think I need one...

At 55-60mph I don't find them that noisy really, if they have some reasonably quiet tires and you keep the doors on ;) .
My buddy traded in a comfy quiet newer RAM 1500 to get back into a 2012 4 door Wrangler with a manual. He wanted a vehicle that serves him, instead of him trying baby a $50k nice truck and not scratch it up in the woods, or worry about getting stuck in the back field.
He does keep it clean enough inside, to drive around for any event he's going to.

It's jeep weekend at our local beach this weekend, which inspires the question. What's so great about jeeps and their cult like following they have? All I see is a body style that hasn't been changed in 40 years
My wife wants one so she can stop curb rashing her wheels.
Im in love with my 20 year old crap box mini cooper which leaks so much oil it practically stopped rusting so I can kinda understand being in love with an impractical and horrible daily driver car.
