About all I see there any more is name calling, insulting, teenage type of talk. They hijack your threads with name calling and think nothing of it.

Don't the mods keep after this trash any more? I always liked BITOG because I always thought it was a well disciplined forum. I like to play by their rules and see them enforce the rules on others.

I'm talking about these threads :

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/who-trailers-their-bike.130363/

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/hilarious-commercial.133109/

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/how-the-grinch-stole-sturgis.133718/

This is a thread I started, that they've now hijacked :

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/air-filter-oil.132588/

Is it like this all over BITOG now? The cycles section is where I've done most of my posting here lately.

This is a 32,262 party system. The censors are too busy bleeping abbreviations when discussing issues with the Briggs & Stratton. If you have a problem getting answers to a request of info, maybe there are better sources for answers elsewhere. Most highways have more than one lane.

Nature of the beast I guess. Motorcycles, outlaws, gangs, rebel without a cause. Anybody that has ever owned one is an expert.

My best example is my cousin. Does not know a darn thing about cars, heck cannot even change a flat tire, but he is a motorcycle expert since he bought one four years ago.

It was meant to be humor but some HD fans didn't take to kindly to it, and the OP stayed there to challenge each and every HD fan as they came along. I feel the whole thread should have been deleted. It got way out of hand. That whole section has become a breeding ground for teenager insults.

Yeah, a good % of that 32,262 are probably not active members, IMHO, but only signed up to see what it's like.

BITOG seemed to me to have the "my way or the highway" type of attitude, and I personally didn't mind that, but now seems to have the "have it your way" attitude, at least in the Motorcycles area. I like to avoid forums that get that way. I used to think it was fun to deal with grumpy people and call them names from behind my KB. There certainly are many people out there that would be glad to oblige.

The strife is primarily the work of two members ("Z" & "B") and 99% of the problems could be eliminated by getting rid of the two of them. They have both been warned and given suspensions, but it hasn't deterred them. I stepped up to challenge the bovine excrement, but received a warning for my trouble. I may be through with the motorcyle forum.

You seem to be generalizing all cyclists here and were probably never a cyclist yourself. I'm a clean cut one that's law abiding, I don't drink, smoke, and don't wear black leather.

Cycle gangs probably represent a very small % of cyclists in the USA.

Well, it's obvious that people that ride hold a certain passion for the sport. Motorcycling truly is a way of life,, regardless of what you ride.

I have to admit that some of those conversations are pure comedy. I don't have a dog in the fight because I like them all,, but lordy I do laugh at the bickering. I hope that all of the guys don't take it to heart though. We're all here for a good time.

You can't just ban folks because in your opinion they are a problem. They are "celebrating they're diversity"

Dude you need to relax more and not let the little things bother you.

Compared to any other forums those posts you mentioned are posted from choir boys...I really do not see anything wrong.

As far as posts being hijacked...I think alot of posts here [and on every other forum] gets hijacked but its really no big deal as you always get back on topic...For the most part I find some of the hijacking interesting.

I had a few people pm me telling me they were sorry for hijacking my thread...I always tell them NO WORRY and it does not bother me a bit.

Activity positive or negative has to perpetuate or forums die. And they do.

When you find a new active forum after that I guarantee the same flatheads will be there.

Well, yes I was generalizing and that is why I said nature of the beast. And for your information I have been riding motorcycles since I was 14-years old, and I'm now 63. I've owned everything from Vespa Scooters to Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, BSA, Triumph, Norton, BMW, and Harley motor cycles. Back in the early 70's I raced on Bultaco, Montessa, CZ, and Sachs dirt bikes. So I do know a thing or two about motorcycling and the folks that ride all the different brands.

I dont see it any different than the "import Vs Domestic", UAW threads, or others. Been lots of 'personal slamming" lately on all the forums. Each forum I have ever been on is always a rotating personnel thing, some will stay on with high posts counts and be the 'veterans', others will occasionally surf and post, then you have others who will post alot for awhile, get tired of it and leave. those are the ones who usually do the slamming.

Although a rider for 40 years, I rarely visit the cycle forum due to the constant bickering from a select few. I ride to relax not to raise my BP.

Yeah, I guess I just don't get around BITOG as much as some people. You just have to take the good with the bad. I've learned some very good info here at BITOG.

It's kind of a PITB when people reply to your thread, and you click on it to read, but find out they replied not to add info, but to insult someone else. The same people that once gave you a very informative and helpful reply can turn the thread into an insult contest.

Then I went to a new Honda CL 350, then a Kawi 750 triple, then a Honda 750 SS, then a Suzuki GS1000 E, and many more after that. :) I'm 59 now, and still love to ride.

Lurch, I'm sure I'm one of the 'teenage' types from what I gather from the motorcycle section. I apologize if my joking around or opinions regarding Harley folks (not a Harley fan...nor it's culture....sorry) has made you feel this way. I'll try and refrain from being too sarcastic. But it is good to consider that when it comes to the whole Harley topic, they get a lot of attention (good and bad) for the simple reason that they purposely try and garner attention. Comes with the territory.
