What was your first gun?

A BB rifle when I was 7 years old I remember it was hard to cock and the BB rifle couldn't kill a chicken. I got in really big trouble for trying. Then a single shot 22 rifle when I proved I would not to shoot at the stock.

The first gun I ever shot was a Westernfield .22 rifle that I still own. It was my Father's.

First gun of any kind I ever bought was an air rifle. I went through a few of those during my childhood. I also bought a pellet pistol that looked like a Colt Python. That thing was sweet. Traded it with a buddy for something or another.

First "real" gun I bought was a Ruger P89, which I later sold (too heavy for my liking).

I would say that is a keeper.

My dad has a 1916 Mk 3 SMLE that he bought for $25 when he was young. I have recently heard that the surplus Lee-Enfields have gone WAY up in price. They used to make a nice economical first deer rifle.

How much are they going for now? I have the same rifle, just a year newer 1917, bought at a gunshow. Love the look of them, and I also have a bayonet for it. Am curious what they are worth now.

I see them for well over 300 nowadays in original military condition. Saw some Ishapore made ones for 399 advertised the other day.

Your Brit ones tend to be worth more than the Aussie and Indian ones though.

Less fresh ones for sure. Only the Mosin Nagants are still cheap.

I have a SMLE built at BSA but it was rearsenaled into a 410 riot gun in Ishapore in the 40's.
