What was your first front wheel drive car experience?

Brand new 1989 Pontiac Bonneville with the Gen 1 3800. It had some torque steer to it, but was a great car. I sold it with roughly 150,000 miles and never had any major repairs. It was also the first car I owned that had cruise control - that spoiled me on long trips.

Around the time that I started learning how to drive in a passenger vehicle I was around 14 / 15. My parents both had rear wheel drive vehicles then. My Aunt let us practice driving on her minivan, which was a blue 2000's Dodge Grand Caravan. Not exciting I know, but it was my first experience. At 17 my parents bought me my first car, a 1995 Honda Accord V6. I got bumped by a school bus and ended up getting the whole car repainted. Loved that car and still miss it.

Not sure. I think my girlfriend's mother had an '87 Corolla. Not that we ever drove it hard enough for it to matter, but I'm pretty sure it was good in snow. Later I had a Subaru GL that had part time 4WD, it was FWD until the rear was kicked in.

1978 Honda Civic. That car could plow through the snow without snow tires on the rural gravel roads. As good as the tractor!

Owned: 1999 Chevy Malibu LS

First actual experience was a 1987 Pontiac 6000, I think it was the SE model. Rental from Avis when I went on vacation. The car was brand new, something like 100 miles on it. Lucky for Avis I didn't abuse the car so it came back to them with 1200 additional miles, and was broken-in properly.

I've never owned a FWD. I did learn to drive primarily with a FWD Ford Escort and FWD Ford Contour, but 99%+ of the miles I have driven have been in a longitudinal drivetrain body on frame light truck.

My parents first FWD was a 90 Taurus, and my dad has said that car was the one where he stopped working on cars. He'd do some maintenance and minor repairs on our 85 Cherokee and 86 Ranger, but the Taurus went straight to the dealer for everything.

Before buying our first FWD car[below], we had only driven RWD V6/V8 American cars/trucks of the '60s & '70s

Our first FWD car was a 1984 Plymouth Turismo 2.2. It was the same exact car in the link below(Garnet Red/Radient Silver). It was also the exact same exact car as the DodgeCharger 2.2 of that gen including the two tone paint scheme and of course, the lesser(non turbo) version of the SHELBY CHARGER, which shared many body & interior parts.

1977 Volkswagen Scirocco....it was a very fun car to drive in it's day. Worst FWD car I ever owned was a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix SJ with the manual transmission...absolutely horrible.
