Rears don't need bled because it didnt empty the master. And how does a bleeder work? It loosens to break he seal and lets fluid out and air out just like cracking a bleeder. Its the same concept. My brakes work fine . I drove it to work tonight they stop fine.
I imagine it would be very difficult to get all of the air out that way, but it certainly should be possible with the caliper oriented just the right way and the banjo bolt already filled.
I would call this very bad practice, but if it worked it's not fair to say it didn't work without so much as feeling the pedal.
To be honest I heard of it on Eric the car guy . It really did work it takes more time but it works. I know every one is going to argue about it but it did work my brakes are firm and work very well. I will however when I replace the rear brakes will do wheel cylinders and everything
Glad I don't live where it rusts. The Volvo has 9 bleeders, 2 per Brembo caliper, 1 on the clutch slave cylinder. Mustang has 6 now, 2 on the front Brembo calipers, 1 per rear. The way all the hoses connect to the calipers, that method wouldn't be possible.

When you removed the brake lines air entered the calipers. Air being lighter than brake fluid causes it to bubble up and collect at the high spot, that is why they put the bleeder there. You can't force the air back down and out of the banjo bolt. How much air entered depends on how much brake fluid leaked out. You may not feel it at the pedal but it is there.

I agree with what you are saying, but wouldn't want to try it unless I had to do it to get back home. I don't think you would be able to prefill the banjo bolt with out the brake fluid running out when you installed it. I still don't think you would get all the air out. I would worry about the air working its way up the line and getting trapped somewhere else.
