Hello all, Im a new member but Ive been lurking for a while. I bought some green German Castrol for my 2006 Tacoma 4.0l v-6 and used it in my last oil change. Well its almost time for my next oil change and I cant find the German Castrol at any of the Autozones around here. What do you guys think would be the next best choice? From what Ive learned on here Im leaning towards either Mobil 1 0w40 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. What do you guys think?

If you're not abusing the engine (racing/towing etc.) and just doing moderate drain intervals, any SM oil is fine. Mobil 1 in particular shows extremely good #'s in Toyotas.

with 3000 miles on my 4.0l tacoma and 1500 miles on syntec 5w30 its very quiet was going to use Mobil 1 not no more very happy and easy to get 5QT jugs at Walmart at a great price. might try gc as i have 40QTs but very happy with 5w30 will find out after a used oil analysis down the road. from what i read do not touch the air box.

First of all, since your using Toyotas motor (their warrenty is 60k or 5 years and if anything goes wrong, it's their problem) they would like you to change the oil every 5k or 6mo.

I'd go with a good Conventional oil.

Castrol GTX, Havoline, Pennzoil or Chevron all are excellent oils that will keep the engine well protected and clean for a long time.

You need to ask someone behind the Auto Zone counter what day they get their warehouse oil delivery. GC sometimes sells out within a few days after receiving it.
