I have a well worn Chevy 327 in my car right now, and it will be getting replaced with a fresh SBC. I have 6 qts of Valvoline VR1 20w50 conventional, and 6 qts of 20W50 VRI synthetic that I've not used up in the 327. The worn motor liked 20W-50, as it kept oil pressure up at low speeds (WORN engine).
I'd prefer to stay with a 10w30 on the new engine, as all bearing clearances are perfect. Any ideas on what to do with this stockpiled oil? If I were to mix it 3:2 with a 10w30 VR1 / VR1 synth, would I end up somewhere around a 15w40, or would this be a bad idea?
