Going in my 05 neon that calls for 5w20.

Cold coming.

Have 2 quarts of Castrol 0w20 from Oreilly's clearance.

Have lots of 5w20 GTX synblend from AZ.
Have 5 qts of GTX 5w20.
Have lots of Valvoline 5w20.
Have lots of M1 AFE 0w30 from AZ.

Don't want it to get too expensive, as i'll be idling the car and otherwise abusing it and dumping this winter mix in April to get rid of the fuel dilution.

Want 2 qts of something that will nicely complement the full syn. Vote away!

Is the 2 qts of Castrol from O'Reilly's the black bottle or Gold Bottle EP??

I could just do a pure load of 0w30, I have 35.7 quarts of the stuff.

2 Qts Edge Gold

The rest M1 AFE 0w-30

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Goes thru 1/2 quart in 4k miles.

Thanks all for the cognitive dissonance.

Thought I'd throw one out to the masses.

Went with 2 qts GTX white bottle that I picked up like 5 years ago at Home depot on clearance, before I even dreamed of having a car that takes it.

Poured pretty good at 20 degrees, so I have high hopes.

Old GTX has a sodium add pack.
I would've used the GTX SB.
I doubt you'll notice the difference, though.

Mixing is really bad for low temp viscosity and the oil will shear faster than non mixed. But if you HAVE to mix something just to use up those last 2 quarts I'd choose the M1 0w30 because it has a similar Ca + Mg additive pack to the Castrol.
