Holy cow. I wouldn't go near it because I hate snakes but i don't luke spiders either. So two of my least favorite things together. Uggg. And uhhh beautiful? Really pop rivet? I think Jennifer lopez is beautiful or a brand new corvette. definitely not spiders killing snakes. But hey to each his own.
I won't lie and say that a spider that big isn't in it's own way fascinating, but I also wouldn't say that I want to see it up close.
Never go to Australia and not view the native female wildlife? You do not know what you are missing.
watching that is close enough for me....I guess if you lived where that kind of wildlife exists it wouldn't be a big deal, but since I don't....

They spin their webs between trees of a night, more than once I've had to peel the web and spider off from running around at night as a kid, no biggie.

Like Rick says, they are orb spiders, and spin their webs at night.
Nothing creepier 'though than walking through an out of service, cold power station at 11PM during comissioning, watching your footing with your torch, and ending up with a face full of cold wiggly orb spider who spun a web across a stairway.
